Flooding Updates 17/02/2022

We have been advised that the the Environment Agency are deploying the temporary barriers on Beales Corner.

The main frame of the temporary barrier and ballast blocks at Beale’s Corner are all now deployed. EA are now awaiting for Storm Eunice to pass through tomorrow and will look to add plates and sheeting on Saturday morning. Still a potential closure of the bridge from 5/6am for 3 hours on Saturday morning.

They’re also looking to erect the barriers on Severnside South on Saturday and Sunday.

They are currently more worried about multiple severe flood warnings issued for the Severn & Wye estuaries for tomorrow morning’s tide where a Red Met Office Warning has been issued. These are rarely issued and mean there is a real risk to life; if the tidal defences are overtopped on the Severn estuary flooding is very rapid and the water can go a very long way.
