Environment Agency News – Beales Corner Flood Scheme Update
We would like to share with you the latest update on the construction progress of the Bewdley Left Bank Flood Risk Management Scheme.
Currently the construction of the scheme remains on programme and our contractor is making good progress.
The major milestone for this week is the arrival of the glass panel components on site. The contractor is already starting to install these components along the flood wall. The glass panels bring the flood wall up to full height once installed. The necessary tests have already been completed for the glass panels off site testing centre, which included:
- Static Leakage Test, where water is held against the panels to a required level to test for leakage of the seals
- Dynamic impact test, where a heavy object is released and hit into the panels to test their durability with water next to them
- Current leakage test, where a turbulent flow of water is forced past the screen, this is also to test the seals

Over the coming bank holiday weekend Severn Trent Water will be working to make improvements to the current drainage system, this will involve excavation of the highway. For this reason, the one-way traffic measures will remain in place.
