Beales Corner Flood Risk Management Scheme update
Please find the latest Bewdley FRMS project update that are looking to share with the community and traders today.
I am writing to update you on the construction programme for the new flood risk management scheme at Beales Corner, Bewdley.
This winter has been kinder to us from a flooding perspective compared to some previous years. This has enabled Jackson Civil Engineering to keep to the construction programme moving despite a number of challenges, particularly around some unknown buried services.
There are still several delivery risks that we are currently working hard to manage, and there is always the risk of further flooding, but we are pleased to announce that we are currently aiming to reopen the Kidderminster Road and main bridge to two-way traffic in early July 2025, ready for the school holidays.
We recognise the disruption the one-way system has had for people in the town. Flooding in Bewdley can cause a significant impact on people and property, and following the completion of the new scheme, the town will have effective flood defences on both sides of the river. This will improve the lives of many people for generations ahead.
We thank you for your patience and support during its construction.
